University system suspends classes for two weeks

All University System of Georgia institutions are suspending instructions for two weeks. Georgia State University is among the institutions making this announcement to students.

The suspensions give the institutions time to “test their business continuity plans and online instruction modules,” the University System says.

All students are asked to leave campus before Friday, March 13, and to not return until Sunday, March 29. Students living on campus are not being asked to move out.

The University System advises students to take the necessary prevention precautions, and the institutions will “safely accommodate those students on campus.”

This announcement comes after Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued a call for action for community leaders, educational leaders and childcare providers across the state.

This is a different stance from previous messages the University System has issued. Earlier today, staff and students at Georgia Southern University received an email that the University System will continue holding classes.
