On May 22, 2018, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Fugitive Unit arrested Roden Meadows, the suspected gunman connected to the murder of Georgia State University student, Jason Williams.
Meadows was charged with murder in connection with Williams’ death.
Georgia State spokeswoman Andrea Jones told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Williams attended Georgia State’s Clarkston campus and was majoring in business administration.
Williams was last seen at 4 p.m on May 15 near his home in Ellenwood, a Facebook post by his father states.
Williams was scheduled to attend a job orientation on Wednesday but never made it.
A missing person’s report was filed on May 17 by Williams’ mother. According to the Facebook post, “This is the first occurrence of Jason ever being missing.”
On Friday, police identified Williams as the victim killed in a Citgo gas station shooting on Columbia Drive. The day he was last seen.
According to the DeKalb Police Department, Williams and Meadows drove to and entered the gas station. Surveillance footage shows them together.
When they exited the store, Williams proceeded to pump gas, and when he entered the car, Williams was shot.
According to another Facebook post, services for Williams will be held at Murray Brothers Funeral Home’s Cascade Chapel at 11 a.m. on May 26. A viewing will be held earlier at 9 a.m. at the chapel.
Williams’ father says, “We want to thank you all for your powerful prayers and fast communications, and ask that you continue to be our prayer warriors during this most difficult time.”
